I realize my name has become awkwardly popular the past few years with the dismissal meaning of #ByeFelisha...ha! However, it is with high hopes that you will get to know me, and my name/services will be warmly welcomed and embraced with lots of oxytocin and an exciting "Hello Felisha!"..hahaha!
(I know, I know...Thanks for entertaining my lame joke!)
So, you may ask yourself...who is Felisha? Well, here is a little about me and my path which has landed you on my website today! I was inspired to become a Lactation Consultant after I experienced my own breastfeeding challenges. While breastfeeding my three children I've personally experienced many combination of challenges that I now support families through today. Some of my personal milestones on my nursing journey collectively with my three children include; tongue tie, thrust, pre-term infant/NICU, Tandem Nursing, Mastitis, abscess removal surgical, postpartum depression, toddler nursing and survival of a six months deployment two weeks after giving birth! Whew! These are just a few of the challenged that fueled my zealous passion to support lactating families! Since my breastfeeding days I have worked hard work to acquire the required formal education, clinical skills and certification to become an Internationally Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC). I now have the amazing opportunity to encourage, support and promote breastfeeding professionally! I enjoy staying up-to-date with research through conference attendance, conferring with trusted colleagues and learning from the families I have had the pleasure of working with. In addition to privately seeing clients, I teach and mentor the next generation of lactation providers. I also teach a variety of classes to parents, facilitate support groups and a sought after speaker for infant feeding conferences and events. I am truly honored to receive referrals from a number of pediatricians, obstetricians, midwives, doulas, colleagues and happy parents.
It is my sincere hope for each family I meet to offer warm support, compassionate, non-judgmental gentle encouragement and assist all families with infant feeding, no matter their feeding preferences. I take pride in approaching my consults with a true sense of empowerment while providing practical evidence-based tools to guide you in your individual experience. This is what sets me apart! It is my passion and love for what I do and my work reflects that! I am looking forward to meeting you and helping with your infantfeeding feeding challenges and beyond.
